It has been estimated that about one-fourth of all users abandon an app after using it just once. You would not like your app to be one of those right? To ensure this does not happen, you have to have the right amount of presence on your users mobile screens and that each targeted user should be able to access your app whenever he or she needs it.  This can also mean that you may have to develop your app in both Android and iOS. Let us have a detailed comparison between the two on various parameters-

Market Share and revenue from apps

In 2017, about 67% of all the phones that run globally run on Android, while there are only 32% of phones running on the iOS platform. However, Apple gets more revenue from its apps than what Google gets, with the App Store giving 34 percent more revenue than the Google Play store according  to the latest figures for 2017. The app store bought in $38.5 billion in revenue while the Google Play Store bought in $20.1 Billion Dollars in revenue.

Development speed

If you want to get an app made and delivered as quickly as possible, an iOS app can be made the most easily while Android apps can take 2-3 times more time to make due to various reasons.

The main reason is that while iOS works only with iPhones, Android phones work with a host of devices and the code has to be written in such a way so that the app works perfectly well in each of the devices. This is a huge task which takes a lot of according to.

Release Cycles

Whenever Apple launches a new Operating System, it is available to download for all the recent users of iPhones. Thus there is a near 86 percent adoption of the latest iOS 11 amongst iPhone users.

On the other hand, many carriers and OEMs do not facilitate the adoption of newer versions of Android OS on their phones, meaning that many Android users are still using older versions of it.

Apps have to be developed in these older versions too, taking up more time and money than for Apple app development. In fact, only about 22 percent of all Android users have adopted the new version of Android.

Publishing the app

Making an app is done, but publishing it to the app store also has to be done. Here is where Android scores over iOS. With the Google Play Store, you just need to make an one time payment of $25 and the app will be live within a few hours, you are then free to beta test it and update it whenever necessary.

With the iOS, however things are vastly different. Here your app is intensely scrutinized and checked before it can make it to the App store. If it is rejected, this will result in a waste of time for everybody. Moreover, you also need to pay a $100 annual fee to Apple to publish your app.

A few last words…

These are just some of the differences between Android and iOS. You can get your Android App development done here in Melbourne or elsewhere in Australia with the most experienced coders who have made countless apps just like yours.

If you have a business that caters to an audience that uses both Android and iOS, then you to can opt for mobile app development here in Melbourne with the best results. Getting an app made is now super easy wherever you are in Australia.
