The healthcare sector has several responsibilities in managing patients’ health and providing them with quality services. While doctors and nurses are often said to be the key stakeholders in delivering these services, the healthcare sector must work in unison to ensure top-quality patient care.

  • 1. Healthy Work Environment
  • 2. Continuous Evaluation
  • 3. Tailored Patient Care Administration
  • 4. Utilization Of Health Information Technology (HIT)
  • 5. Adequate And Appropriate Nutritional Care

From the administration department to the care units, several factors play a critical role in ensuring quality patient care delivery. Below, we have mentioned a few healthcare administration factors that top the list and should not be overlooked daily.

1. Healthy Work Environment

As in any other field, a healthy work environment for healthcare professionals is vital to ensure optimal performance. Communication and trust amongst the professionals are of great significance.

A healthy working environment allows healthcare professionals to discuss complex patient treatment procedures more effectively and deliver better care.

A healthy work environment does not simply mean healthy relationships amongst professionals. It also means close monitoring of the employees and executing appropriate measures to avoid mental and physical burnout.

With their energy levels replenished, these healthcare workers will show increased productivity and dedication to work. This improved performance subsequently leads to enhanced patient care.

2. Continuous Evaluation

Evaluation is an essential task for any functional institute that aims to improve its services over time. It helps improves the performance of employees and creates a framework to approve appraisals.

It helps set KPIs for staff members to ensure optimal delivery of care services. It is the responsibility of the hospital administration to watch over newly implemented SOPs and evaluate their efficiency, or the lack thereof.

With sufficient observation, data, and evidence, the administration department can decrease inefficiency and cut costs going to waste. The data can also reduce the chances of medical negligence and save the healthcare facility from legal issues and a bad reputation in an unfortunate incident.

3. Tailored Patient Care Administration

Healthcare professionals learn various methods of treatment for medical conditions that they come across. However, in a practical setup, sometimes a patient’s needs may not always be similar to those defined in theory.

Given the nature of the human body, physiology, and psychology, different patients have different needs. Therefore, it is essential for healthcare facilities to develop a flexible approach to tailor procedures to specific patient needs. This is where a healthcare coordinator comes into play.

A healthcare coordinator looks after patients individually, taking note of their needs and helping the professionals devise a tailored treatment plan for them. They are a vital link between the two parties and ensure enhanced communication for better patient care delivery.

Since the job’s nature requires extensive knowledge and has high risk associated with it, a healthcare coordinator salary package is reasonably market competitive.

4. Utilization Of Health Information Technology (HIT)

As mentioned earlier, technological advancements have proven to be extremely useful in the healthcare sector. The advent of Health Information Technology (HIT) has allowed healthcare professionals to equip themselves with systems that improve their efficiency and patient care delivery.

HIT professionals are in charge of utilizing available IT systems and optimizing them for use in the healthcare sector. Such optimization results in the formation of systems that provide services exclusive to healthcare institutes.

While these IT systems can prove extremely useful in digitizing records and standard procedures, sufficient training for the professionals is required to utilize these advanced systems. Healthcare workers and administration must work in unison to normalize the use of these systems in healthcare facilities to ensure that the patients get the high-quality treatment that they deserve.

5. Adequate And Appropriate Nutritional Care

Patients admitted to a hospital need nutritional care along with essential medical support. It is the hospital nutritionist’s responsibility to ensure that patients get suitable micro and macro minerals during their stay.

However, nutritional care is not limited to administering necessary electrolytes and liquid food for those that are unconscious or in a coma. It also includes the administration of a healthy diet for those that are capable of eating themselves.

The nutritionist must design the diet plan for these patients exclusively with their medical and physical conditions in mind. The food given to them must be nutritionally sufficient and hygienic, and adequate in taste.

Conclusion

In any region, the healthcare sector is heavily relied on by the general population to deliver top-quality services. It is the ethical duty of healthcare workers to ensure that they administer the best treatment plan and care to their patients.

However, this administration is not the responsibility of the concerned doctors and nurses alone. Various healthcare professionals must work together and ensure that all factors influencing patient care quality are in their best interest.
