  • Purchase a timepiece with a second hand.
  • Place your index and middle fingers on the opposite arm’s inner wrist, right below the base of the thumb. A tapping or pulsing sensation should be felt against your fingers.
  • In 10 seconds, count how many taps you felt.
  • To calculate your heart rate for one minute, multiply that value by 6.
  • Using a stethoscope, your doctor can hear the opening and closing of your heart valves and monitor your pulse.

How to Get your Blood Pressure Measured?

  • The force of blood on the walls of your arteries as your heart pumps it around your body is known as blood pressure. It can be quantified in two ways:
  • Systolic blood pressure is the highest level of blood pressure. When your heart contracts, the pressure in your arteries increases.
  • Blood pressure in the diastolic state. It’s the pressure in your blood arteries between heartbeats while your heart is resting.
  • When adults are at rest, their blood pressure should be less than 120 over 80. The systolic pressure is 120. The diastolic pressure is 79 millimeters of mercury.
  • A blood pressure measurement of 130/80 or greater is considered high blood pressure, often known as hypertension.
  • Years of high blood pressure can stiffen and restrict your arterial walls, preventing blood flow to your heart and other vital organs.

How to Measure Blood Pressure at Home?

    • Be silent – Before taking your blood pressure, avoid smoking, drink caffeinated beverages, or do an exercise for at least 30 minutes. Before taking measures, make sure your bladder is empty and that you have at least 5 minutes of calm time. You can also take a family health insurance plan, to avail of benefits.
    • Sit properly – Sit with a straight and supported back (on a dining chair, rather than a sofa). Your legs should not be crossed, and your feet should be flat on the floor. Your upper arm should be heart level and supported on a flat surface (such as a table). Make sure that the bottom of the cuff is directly above the elbow bend. Check the directions on your monitor for an illustration or ask your healthcare practitioner to show you.
    • Every day, take your measurements at the same time – It’s crucial to take your readings at the exact times every day, in the morning and evening. It’s suggested to take the readings daily, beginning from the two weeks following a treatment change and the week before your next appointment schedule.
    • Take many readings and keep track of the results – Take a few readings one minute apart each time you measure and record the data on a downloadable (PDF) tracker. Take your monitor to your appointments if it has built-in memory for storing your readings. After you register your profile with some monitors, you may be able to upload your readings to a secure website.
