Sharing a bed with your partner should be a relaxing, comforting experience, but that’s not always the case. It can be uncomfortable, and it can pose plenty of challenges. From fidgeting to talking in their sleep to snoring, there are many reasons why sharing a bed is not always as great as it could be.

Luckily, there are some things you can do that will help the situation and ensure, as far as possible, at least, that you both get a good night’s sleep. If you have a problem sharing a bed with your partner, keep reading to find out more about how to cope with the issue and get past it.

Have a Comfortable Sleep Environment

If you want to sleep well, you’ll need the best sleep environment you can create. This is true whether you’re sharing a bed with someone else or you’re on your own. In fact, if you do share a bed and you find it hard to sleep, improving your surroundings can make a big difference, and it might be the very thing that helps you sleep more soundly.

The first thing to consider is your mattress. Over time, mattresses lose their spring and comfort, but this can happen slowly, so you might not have noticed. If the mattress is more than seven years old, it’s probably time to replace it.

Even if it’s not that old, if you don’t feel comfortable when you lie on it, it’s wise to invest in a better one. Cheap mattresses won’t last as long as more expensive ones (most of the time, at least), so if you didn’t pay much for the mattress in the first place, it’s best to spend a little more next time and get a better one.

Bedding also plays an important role in helping you sleep. It will depend on what you find most comfortable, so try a few different fabrics and duvet thicknesses to work out what helps you sleep best. On top of this, the room should be entirely dark and silent and have no screens or devices in it.

Have a Good Sleep Routine

Creating a good sleep routine for you and your partner can definitely help you sleep better, even if you’re sharing a bed. One thing you can do is coordinate your bedtimes so that you both go to bed at the same time.

This can be helpful because no one will be disturbed if the other person comes to bed later, for example. The same is true when waking up – ideally, you should both wake up at the same time, as then no one’s sleep will be disrupted, which can be unhealthy.

Another benefit to going to bed at the same time is that you’ll be more likely to have sex and be intimate. Since this is a great way to bond and it releases hormones that make you sleep better, it could be the ideal thing to do to help you both sleep well. You can visit My Amazing Fantasy in Weymouth for some adult toys and enhancements that will make your intimate experiences even better and ensure your bedtime routine is a fun one.

Talk About Preferences

Communication is always important in a relationship, and so is compromise, so it’s a good idea to talk about your sleep preferences with your partner and to listen to what they prefer as well. When you know what each other wants, it will be easier to work out how to achieve that so you can both sleep properly.

It might be that you have to find a compromise, so you’ll need different pillows, a mattress that can be adjusted on both sides (or two single mattresses), or perhaps one of you needs a fan on their side of the bed, and so on. Work out what you both want and come up with ideas to achieve it, and you’ll both have a great night’s sleep.
